A beautiful country with one of the longest coastlines in the world is Norway. Midnight sun of the Arctic charms and attracts thousands of people, being so far one of the eminent tourist spots of Europe. The nature of Norway is unbelievably spectacular: over a half of its territory is covered with splendid snowy mountains and gorgeous fjords. All along its coast Norway has about fifty thousand tiny islands. Norway situates on the west part of the Scandinavian Peninsula, in Northern Europe. Its neighbors are Russia, Finland and Sweden. The capital of the Kingdom of Norway is Oslo, being as well the biggest city. Three main cities of Norway give different possibilities to its guests.

The customs of this country is similar with those of European countries. It is not allowed to smoke in public places. Tipping up to five percent is acceptable in the restaurant, but don’t try to tip cab drivers. Social event call for official dressing, but in everyday life casual wear is habitual. When visiting someone don’t forget to bring a small gift to the host and wait with drinking till he makes a toast.

There are multitude of ways by which one can reach Norway. Country is linked to Sweden by two ways, with day and night trains from Stockholm, Copenhagen and Malm. As the country is part of the big network of trains, linking it to the majority of the European cities, it provides connections, for those, coming from the UK: via Ostend/Dover (via Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands and Sweden) or from Newcastle to Bergen via Stavanger or Harwich/Hook of Holland.

If one prefers comfortable air travel Oslo International Airport (OSL), the biggest airport in Norway offers its services. It is located 30 mile north of Oslo. In Norway operate such airlines as a Scandinavian airline, Air France, Finnair, Icelandair, Braathens SAFE (BU) and SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK), KLM, Northwest Airlines, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Ryanair and Swiss Airlines, British Airways, Lufthansa.

Norway can also be reached by sea. Main routes from the UK are provided by Fjord Line and DFDS Seaways. They proceed from Newcastle to Bergen and to Kristiansand. Bergen, Larvik, Stavanger, Oslo and Kristiansand are the key passenger ports.
