Cyprus
An amazing country of tender sun and numerous vineyards is Cyprus. The capital of Cyprus is Nicosia. In spite of its small size, Cyprus possesses a rich mixed culture of Middle East and Greek and is full of ancient orchards, monasteries and 12th century buildings. Unfortunately, you have to be very careful while taking pictures, because in military areas it is forbidden and for taking pictures of museums or art galleries you have to get a special permission. Nevertheless, locals are open-hearted and friendly, they are always eager to shake your hand. Here, English, Greek and Turkish are spoken.
Cyprus is an island located in the Mediterranean Sea. The climate here is also Mediterranean with hot temperatures, which become a little bit lower only in winter. The south coast of Cyprus is covered with plains and there are plenty of mountains on the north and south.
Being an island, Cyprus is not connected with other countries by roads, but inside the country roads link all the cities and villages.
If you are willing to rent a car it is better to book it in advance, especially in summer and don’t forget to carry a National driving license or International driving permit. Buses are also available; they run in all the days except Sunday. To reach the remote villages visitors can get on rural bus, but they are very slow.
